cjphipps - collage work

This work has spoken to the artist as follows. “Much color; dark places enhance the total view; falling leaves forecast endings and send out the hope of new life to come; potted plants tell of planning and cultivation; the placement of the potted plants suggests freedom and boundaries.

A smaller collage entitled “Faith Quilt” or “Beginnings” is the bottom of this piece--the separation of the two pieces (“Endings” and “Beginnings”) gives room for space and time for the second piece (“Beginnings”) to announce life (the flower) and growth coming out of darkness and out of hard places.

The original collage was created with colors torn and cut from magazine paper, highlighted with eyebrow pencil.
